Tennessee reportedly using “Hostesses” to Lure Football Recruits

Possible recruiting violations of the University of Tennessee football program is reportedly being looked into by the NCAA. According to reports that originally surfaced in the New York Times, the NCAA is investigating into claims that the Lane Kiffin’s program is utilizing attractive coed hostesses to woo players while making trips to high school games.

In a statement, the school confirmed an NCAA investigation, but indicated that the recruiting hostesses serve as ambassadors for the University of Tennessee. Apart from staffing university-wide admissions programs, these students are tasked to host all manner of prospective students at campus visits, including athletes, according to officials. The Volunteers have committed at least six secondary NCAA violations since Kiffin took over the coaching job in December 2008.
