Bad things continue to happen to Jayson Williams in automobiles.

The Former all-star for the NBA’s New Jersey Nets was charged with drunken driving after his SUV veered off an exit ramp and struck a tree early Tuesday, police said, the latest legal woe for the troubled ex-player.

Now, TMZ is reporting that Williams has suffered a fractured neck from the accident, according to officials at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York.

Williams, who is awaiting a manslaughter retrial in New Jersey, suffered cuts to his face in the crash, police said. He was in the passenger seat when officers arrived, and he told them someone else had been driving, according to police. But witnesses told police they saw him in the driver’s seat, and officers said no one else was in the car.

Williams has a history of trouble in vehicles, including the shooting death of his limo driver in 2002. Williams was convicted of covering up the shooting and recently reportedly agreed to a deal that would send him to prison for up to three years.

Williams was also hospitalized last year after destroying his hotel room . Hotel officials called police after deeming Williams “suicidal.”
