NFL Elite Running Back Allegedly Abuses Pregnant Girlfriend
by Andres Romay
Two time Pro Bowl running back Steven Jackson is facing his newest challenge, but this time it is off the field. According to TMZ, in a court filing, his former girlfriend Supriya Harris is alleging that during an heated argument back in March 2009, Jackson became violent and beat her up. “Steven became enraged and pushed me to the ground, repeatedly.” Harris is also claiming that Jackson “forcibly grabbed my arm and flung me against the door.” Even though these allegations are despicable, to make matters worse, Harris was 9 months pregnant with their child.
Harris, who was “bleeding heavily” from wounds suffered from the altercation was taken to a nearby hospital by Jackson, who allegedly instructed her to lie to the doctors and tell them she slipped in the shower. Luckily the baby was fine, and ten days later she gave birth to their son. According to the complaint filed with the Las Vegas police Department, Harris left Jackson four months later, after he threatened to beat her up again at a musical festival in New Orleans. Since that time, they have been in a heated battle over child support for their son. TMZ reports that Harris has asked a judge to step in and mediate the process.
His team, the St. Louis Rams have stated they are going to conduct their own investigation into the situation. Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo released a statement Thursday. “We are aware of the situation involving Steven Jackson,” said Spagnuolo. “We are in the process of gathering information. We are always concerned with issues involving our players.” Jackson who has no criminal record, or previous domestic violence issues has yet to comment on the issues.
