Why Apolo Ohno Yawns Before His Races

Why Apolo Ohno Yawns Before His Races

By Brittni Michaelis

BUZZ Like many Americans, I found myself sitting at home on Saturday night watching Apolo Anton Ohno try to make history. Ohno was going for his record setting seventh Olympic medal, by trying to win a podium spot in his last and final race of this year’s Olympic Games, the 1000m short track speed skating race.

While I waited in anticipation, they started announcing the athletes and I couldn’t help but be annoyed and almost bored of the fact that Ohno was warming up and would continually yawn. It turned me off. Although, I quickly got over it when the race started and Ohno was competing against two brothers from the hometown favorite Canada, and two South Korean teammates. Ohno held his own and in a dramatic finished captured his third bronze and seventh overall medal of his career.

By CSP Guest Contributor Jon Gleason

BUZZ The chants rang out in the fourth quarter, and again in the overtime period. “We Want T-MAC” echoed throughout an arena full of fans whose faith in a long-term plan may actually be rewarded. In a wildly entertaining extra period affair, new additions Tracy McGrady, Eddie House, and Sergio Rodriguez played critical roles in staking the Knicks to an overtime lead that dissipated in the final seconds courtesy of the late game heroics by the fastest rising star in the league. Even though Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant stole the evening, he recognized there will be better nights ahead for Knicks fans and their new go-to guy.

Video! Golf Channel Analyst Charlie Rymer Cries When Talking about Tiger Woods

BUZZ This video is a perfect example of how soft the Golf Channel is with their coverage of Tiger Woods and the rest of the PGA. Charlie Rymer gets choked up, sympathizing with Woods, saying how difficult it is to watch somebody go through what Woods is experiencing.

This performance by Rymer is laughable, it is obvious that Charlie Rymer has made a career out of being a kiss-ass with athletes, not shooting the public straight. The Golf Channel is clearly afraid to critisize the PGA players out of fear that they will be excluded from interviews, content, etc.

Is Randy Moss Worth It?

Is Randy Moss Worth It?

by Spencer Loomis

BUZZ With Randy Moss entering the final year of his 3-year, $27 million contract extension with the New England Patriots, the question is how much longer can his productivity continue and are his ongoing off the field issues worth another hefty extension?

Moss signed his previous contract extension following his record breaking 2007 season and while his numbers haven’t slumped (83 catches; 1,264 yards; 13 touchdowns in 2009), he did turn 33 on February 13th and his ability to continue to produce at a historically high level can only last so long.
