by Courtside Post Staff Writer
CNBC’s Darren Rovell reported today that more than seven million video streams were viewed on SI.com during yesterday’s Swimsuit launch.
Whether it was the publicity of Lindsay Vonn’s picture, or just the perfection of Brooklyn Decker’s cover shot, one thing is for sure. This year’s SI Swimsuit release was a huge success. SI said that the 7 million views on their website was a “185% growth increase from the previous year.”
The SI web site released that they recieved over 42 million page views of supermodels on their web site, which was a 162% increase from the year before. Additionally, the print magazine has been a hot seller as well, already selling 1 million copies. Since the inception of the swimsuit edition, the magazine has made over $1 Billion for Time Inc., the publisher which owns SI. Overall, the SI Swimsuit edition on its own represents 7% of SI’s annual revenue.
“We are thrilled with the results,” said Paul Fichtenbaum, SI.com’s managing editor in a statement.
“With 1,500 photos and more than 100 original videos the site was a great showcase for SI content, and it’s clear that fans can’t get enough of the swimsuit franchise.”
