Michael Vick to Donate Playgirl Proceeds to PETA?
By Brittni Michaelis
Playgirl has reportedly offered Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and convicted criminal, $1 million to strip down for their magazine. While the hefty sum would be a donation to the animals rights group PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Vick has yet to respond.
According to the Sporting Blog, A spokesman for Playgirl confirms to Life & Style magazine, “I sent the request to Michael Vick on Wednesday, but we haven’t heard back yet.”I figured he paid back society for dog fighting, but what about the animals? This way he could donate a large sum to PETA and all he’d have to do is pose for the magazine! It’s kind of a win-win situation!”
In case you forgot, in 2007, the former Atlanta Falcons star, served 19 months in prison for running a dog fighting operation on his property in Virginia. He admitted providing money for bets on the fights but said he never shared in any winnings, according to ESPN. Vick also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008.
After all the trouble he has had and gone through, Vick is now looking to move forward with his life. He is playing football again, this time with the Philadelphia Eagles, and has even created his own documentary series, “The Michael Vick Project” that airs on BET. The series highlights Vicks attempts to accept his criminal past.
Whether or not he poses for Playgirl, it is an interesting thought nonetheless. Vick can help out animals, who he once treated poorly, while gaining attention and spotlight. But it does place him between a rock and a hard place. If he doesn’t partake, he may be seen as though he doesn’t care about animals, but if he does, he looks like a desperate former all star athlete who is further damaging his image.
What would you do if you were him?
