Erin Andrews Leaving ESPN?
by Spencer Loomis
Erin Andrews has become ESPN’s most recognizable female face during the last six years with her popularity being bolstered by her current appearance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and the scandal surrounding peephole camera footage of Andrews nude in her hotel room that made its way on to the internet. Well the relationship between Andrews and ESPN’s parent company ABC/Disney could be coming to an end shortly following her stint on the popular celebrity dance series.
Andrews has expressed interest in being able to cover several of the sporting world’s largest sporting events from the sidelines including the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, an event that has long been contracted to be covered by CBS. With her contract set to be addressed by July, it is possible that ESPN could negotiate a deal similar to Jay Bilas’ which allows him to provide college basketball analysis for ESPN while additionally providing his services to CBS for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
According to an interview with GQ, Andrews does have interest in moving from her current role covering college sports into covering more professional sports games. This could mean a move from ESPN to the NFL sidelines covering games for FOX, CBS, or NBC. Another option for Andrews would be a move to Hollywood for a position with a show like Entertainment Tonight.
Speaking for male sports fans everywhere, I hope to see Erin Andrews remain on the sidelines as she brings an energy and beauty as well as insightful analysis most sideline reporters lack.
