Trump Says Tiger Feeling the Pressure
By Brittni Michaelis
With the Masters just one week away, many are waiting in anticipation to see how Tiger Woods handles the spotlight and just how much his golf game has changed since taking a 3 month leave of absence from golf because of the startling revelations that the golfing great cheated on his wife, supermodel Elin Nordegren, with many, many women.
Betting agencies, office water cooler chatter and even dinner time conversations have revolved around Tiger Woods and recently many people are wonder and even betting on what Tiger’s odds are to win the Masters, arguably the most prestigious golfing spectacle in the world. One man who has doubts about whether or not it can be done? Donald Trump.
Trump recently talked Tiger talk during the screening of his new series, Donald J. Trump’s Wonderful World of Golf that is set to air on the Golf Channel. While Trump believes that Tiger needs to win, don’t count on Trump betting on him. “The most important thing Tiger can do is win right now, It’s an amazing phenomenon. Winning right now is the deal. He’s got to win…which is awfully tough to do. There is so much pressure, but Tiger has always handled pressure better than anybody else. I would think it would be awfully tough because primarily he’s not tournament hardened…I would be amazed if he won because the pressure is so enormous.”
The Donald is right, Tiger Woods will be facing enormous pressure in Augusta next week. He has been in hiding since late November and there are millions of people who are going to tune in to see how the public receives him, but if he is the same Tiger Woods who has won 4 Masters Tournament Championships in the past. As Trump put it, “These could be Super Bowl ratings, people who have never watched golf before are going to be watching the Masters.”
As much as the public was surprised by the cheating allegations that have tattered Woods’ once perfect and flawless image, Trump was equally shocked. “Tiger has been a star from the time he was three years old. He was a prodigy from Day 1. So in a certain way, he’s led a sheltered life. But when this happened I was quite surprised by it.”
Though Trump has doubts in Woods, he still wants to see him succeed. “The one thing you wonder about is when he’s standing over the 3-footer where he hasn’t missed one in two years. Will he have that same level of confidence? I hope he does.”
Millions and I mean millions of people will be tuned into CBS all weekend to catch their first glimpses of Tiger since his world came shattering down. Many will be rooting for him, many will hope his fails. One thing is for certain though, Tiger Woods will be facing a massive amount of pressure when he vies for the coveted green jacket.
