Bill Clinton- World Cup MVP
While there is no doubt that Landon Donovan deserves to be acknowledged for his contributions to USA Soccer following this World Cup, no man entertained me more over their past few games than former President Bill Clinton.
Following their dramatic 91st minute game winning goal in Wednesday’s match against Algeria, the US men were joined in the locker room for a little post game celebration with Slick Willy.
While that was entertaining, I got no heartier laugh from watching the World Cup than I did from seeing Mick Jagger join Clinton to cheer on the US in their tournament ending effort against Ghana on Saturday. Just imagine the stories these two could swap.
While I’ve come to expect to see Jack Nicholson at every Lakers game courtside, Bill Clinton’s involvement with the World Cup was somewhat of a surprise. It makes sense that he would be in attendance considering his diplomatic duties, but something tells me he was equally motivated by the biggest party in the world of sports and a week away from the wife.
